It’s going to be a busy week in Morzine as the holiday season is well underway. The town is putting on plenty of events to welcome people to town and keep them entertained during their stay.
On Saturday the twenty third there will be free welcome drinks outside the tourist information office between four thirty and six thirty PM. Come and try “Green Chaud” – hot chocolate mixed with the Chartreuse liqueur as well as local cheeses from Morzine’s Alpage.
On Christmas Eve, gather at the foot of the Pleney slope at six PM to enjoy the spectacle of the torchlit descent.
On Boxing Day tourists can spend the day taking part in the Explorer Game Tour, between nine AM and five PM, with a prize giving at five thirty. Find the answers to a series of questions hidden all around the slopes! Registration is free at the tourist office.
From five PM at the tourist office the Race’clette race is taking place. Open to all the family it combines speed with thought and the chance to win a Raclette cheese! Free entry at the tourist office.
On Wednesday the twenty seventh there will be a skiing and snowboarding competition at the new Nyon park on the Nyon plateau. Entry is free and open to anyone over the age of fourteen. The competition will run from one thirty PM to four thirty PM.
In the evening there is an exhibition ice hockey match at the Palais Du Sport at eight forty five PM. Tickets are eight euros for adults and five euros for children.
On Thursday the twenty eighth there will be free fun and games at th tourist office for children aged between six and twelve, between four thirty PM and six PM.
At five thirty the ESF ski school will be offering a free introduction to ski touring. This is only open to over eighteens and begins at five thirty. Registration can be done at tourist office.
Between six and seven PM “Curly Bowling” will be taking place on the ice rink by the tourist office (if it is open). A free activity open to the over sevens, it combines curling and bowling!
At six thirty PM there will be a children’s torchlit descent on the Pleney slopes. Registration is available at the ESF office.
This will be followed by floodlit night skiing on the Pleney slope, open to anyone with a ski pass between eight PM and ten PM.
At eight fifteen PM the Canadian ice dancers, as well as Morzine Avoriaz’s own ice dancers, will be putting on a display at the Skoda arena. Tickets are fifteen euros for adults and eight for children.
To finish the week off there will be a free toy library for children over the age of six at the tourist office on Friday the twenty ninth between four thirty and six thirty PM.
