There will be a new gondola installed in Morgins for the upcoming season! After 40 years of loyal service, Switzerland’s first detachable chairlift is giving way to Switzerland’s second autonomous gondola lift.
Construction is well underway, and the gondola is set to be complete for Christmas 2023! This is what the timeline looks like for the build:
End of September: Cable splicing
Mid-October: Delivery of cabins
Late October – November: Commissioning (adjustments, tests, etc.)
September – November: Finishing work in the buildings, reconnection of all the underground networks (snowmaking, electricity, fibre optics, etc.)
October – November: Administrative procedure to obtain the operating licence
November: Outdoor works
During December: Commissioning
We look forward to the season ahead and testing out the new gondola. Looks like a trip to Morgins is in order!
