On Saturday sixth of January the Morzine Avoriaz ice hockey team will be playing a Division Three game against local rivals Annecy. The game will take place at the Skoda Ice Arena below the suspension bridge in town and begins at eight thirty PM. Tickets are eight euros for adults and five euros for children.
On Sunday there will be a free under twenties elite ice hockey match between HC 74 and Amiens.
On Monday the eighth there will be welcome drinks outside the tourist office between four thirty and six thirty PM. Come and try local specialities – Greenc Chaud (hot chocolate and Chartreuse) and cheese from the local Alpage dairy.
On Tuesday the ninth between nine AM and five PM there will be an “Explorer Game Tour” allowing people to explore the ski area finding answers to various questions at markers left around the mountain. Entry is free at the tourist office and there is a prize giving at five thirty PM. It’s a great way to find your way around the mountain if you have just arrived in resort. Following this, at six PM there is a torchlit descent on the Pleney slopes followed by fireworks. There will also be mulled wine on offer. You can either bring your own glass with you for this or buy a reusable one for one euro.
On Wednesday the tenth there is the opportunity to help open the slopes up for the day, followed by breakfast with the team at their mountain hut. Registration is free at the tourist office with everyone who is participating meeting at the bottom of the Pleney slope at eight AM. In the evening there is even more ice hockey to enjoy, with an exhibition match between Morzine Avoriaz and HC 74. The game begins at eight forty five PM and tickets are eight euros for adults and five euros for children.
On Thursday the eleventh there will be “Curly Bowling” – a mix of human bowling and human curling – between six and seven PM at the outdoor ice rink. Participation is free to anyone aged seven and over. Between eight and ten PM there is floodlit skiing on the Pleney, which is free to everyone with a ski pass.
