If you are moving around Morzine during the hours when the buses are not running, or if you do not want to wait for the buses during the day, the taxi companies in town are a good choice. There are a number of things to be aware of when you are booking a taxi though.

Evening Taxis

Taxis are most popular in the evenings. Most people are happy to use the in resort bus service and many chalet companies offer a free shuttle service to and from the slopes if their chalets are out of town or away from a bus route. This means that there is not much demand during the day. However, more taxis run during the evening due to the increased demand. Most taxis run till around 2:00 AM which is when most of the bars close. Anyone wanting to carry on the party even later might find themselves walking home!

It's always best to be prepared so it is recommended that you book your taxi in advance. They do tend to get fully booked so getting in early will help avoid disappointment.

Taxis in France have to be registered and fully insured so make sure that you book with a reputable company in case of any accident.

Some transfer companies offer a taxi service during the week. The benefit of this is that their drivers are used to driving in snowy conditions in winter, having usually received specialist training at the start of winter, and they will also be in a van with at least eight seats, allowing larger groups to get a lift together and bringing down the overall costs. The transfer companies also know the location of many of the chalets in town and the best ways to get around town.

Special Events

When there are special events up in Avoriaz, such as music festivals, some of the local companies provide a special service to take groups up specifically for the events. The Prodains lift shuts at about 10:00 PM this service allows people from Morzine to enjoy the events.
